Jack E. Tharp Sr's Obituary
Decatur-Jack E. Tharp, Sr., 85, of Decatur, passed away 9:05 pm Monday, March 16, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Graveside services with Military Honors by the Macon County Honor Guard and concluding with “Flight Home” ceremonies to celebrate Jack’s life will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, March 19, 2009 in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to St. John’s Home Health. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting his family with these arrangements. Jack was born December 24, 1923 in Decatur the son of Cecil and Mildred (Gentry) Littleton. He and Margaret (Shields) married on March 22, 1947 in Edwardsville, IL. Jack was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He served with the Civil Air Patrol for several years, and he enjoyed bowling and fishing.
Jack leaves behind his wife Margaret of 62 years, three sons; Patrick (Lori) Tharp of Decatur, Jack E. Tharp, Jr. of Decatur, Michael (Jana) Tharp of Decatur; one daughter Gail (Craig) Whitfield of Decatur, six grandchildren; Steve, Chris, Sara, Tyler, Megan, Patrick, and three great-grandchildren.
Jack was reunited in heaven with his parents and one grandchild.
