Decatur – James R. “Bob” McMillan, 88, of Decatur passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, in Decatur.
Bob was born October 20, 1928, in East St. Louis, IL, the son of John A. and Lucy (Shelby) McMillan. A US Army Veteran of the Korean War, Bob worked as the circulation director at the Herald & Review retiring in 1984. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Ansar Shrine and American Legion Post #105. Bob married Genny Ozment May 24, 1952 in East St. Louis, IL.
Surviving is his wife, Genny of Decatur; children: Richard (Pam) McMillan of Highpoint, N.C. and Susan (Scott) Doane of Decatur; grandchildren: Andrew S. Brazle (fiancé, Lanie Christiansen) of Palatine, Jonathan R. (Rachel) McMillan of Ft. Myers, FL, Jaime Brazle West of Oreana and Megan (Brian) McMillan Hord of eana, Jackson Hord of Plantation, FL, and Stella Rae McMillan of Ft. Myers, FL; step grandsons: Michael Phillips Doane of San Diego, CA and Blake Pearson Doane of Minneapolis, MN; step granddaughter, Alexia Leah Doane of Savoy; two nieces, one nephew, other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and great grandson Corbin Lee West.
Services to celebrate Bob’s life will be 11 am, Monday, May 1, 2017, in First Baptist Church, Decatur. Visitation will be one hour before the service in the church. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church.
