James William Cheshier's Obituary
James William Cheshier, 66, of Decatur, passed away in his home and went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 19, 2015.
He was born November 9, 1948, in Decatur, to James Oscar and Mary Eileen (Dennis) Cheshier. He attended Illiopolis High School and was a long-time employee of Decatur Grain Inspection which is now known as Mid-Iowa Grain.
Jim was a kind and caring man who had a way of making others laugh. Everyone who knew him found his quirky ways, endearing. He didn’t know a stranger, yet lived a quiet and simple life, and was always willing to help others.
He is survived by his two sisters, Barbara Wallace and Janet Dunaway, both of Decatur; his ten nieces and nephews and six great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Ruth Cheshier and one sister, Sharon Richter.
The family would like to give special thanks and recognition to his life-long friend, Larry Reynolds and Rodney Miles & Linda Mell for always being there for him, and to all of the co-workers who meant so much to him that he thought of them as his 2nd family.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Services celebrating the life of James Cheshier will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cancer Care of Illinois or Leukemia Research Foundation.
