James Current's Obituary
Forsyth-James R. 'Jim' Current, 85, of Forsyth, passed away 12 noon, Saturday, July 30, 2011, in St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
James was born on March 15, 1926 in Decatur the son of Alva John and Mabel I. (Hoggins) Current. He married Alice Louisa Sheets on July 8, 1950 in Decatur.
Jim served his country in the U.S. Army from 1946-1947. He graduated from Millikin University in 1950 with a B.S. in engineering administration. Jim was a career electrician and he was a proud member of I.B.E.W. Local 146. He enjoyed being an amateur ham radio operator.
Surviving are his, loving wife, Alice of 61 years, children, Richard Current and wife Terry of Decatur; Robert Current and wife Anna of Bloomington; sisters, Mary Gardner of Forsyth; sister-in-law, Barbara Current of Forsyth; five grandchildren, Michael Current and wife Heather; David Current and wife Julie; Kevin Current; Beth Current; and Mark Current; two step-grandchildren, Amy Waks and Jason Waks and wife Wendi; nieces, Becky Wayne and husband Rick and Judy Gardner; and nephew, James Gardner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John W. 'Bill' Current, his brother-in-law, G. Wesley Gardner and his niece Jane Hamilton.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and will be deeply missed.
Jim Current was known to all as a good man.
Funeral service celebrating the life of James will be 3:00 pm Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be two hours prior to service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
