James Grubbs' Obituary
Decatur ' James Irwin Grubbs, 83, of Decatur, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 at Decatur Rehabilitation Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Graveside services following at Fairlawn Cemetery in Decatur with Chaplain Tim Haworth officiating and Military Rites by Macon County Honor Guard and conclude with the 'Flight Home' ceremony.
James was born May 30, 1928 in Colfax, Illinois, the son of Jesse I. and Artie O. Willhite, Grubbs. James graduated from High School and completed college earning a Bachelor's Of Science Degree from Millikin University. James retired after many years of service with the YMCA; he had also worked at American Red Cross. He was a member of American Legion Post 105, VFW Post 99, Elks 401 and Moose Lodge 684. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. James was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and faithfully attended Sunday services.
James is survived by Cousin Ted Willhite and Nephew Dan Caldwell, both of Portland, Oregon, and Niece Cathy Smith, Denver, Colorado.
James was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty F. Caldwell, brother, Robert G. Grubbs, Cousin, Richard Willhite and Special Longtime Friend, Imogene Powell.
Fond memories of James will remain with those who knew him well.
