James A. Hofstetter's Obituary
Decatur-James A. Hofstetter, 93, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Hickory Point Christian Village.
Private family services will be held. Per his wishes cremation services will be accorded at Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church Building Fund.
Jim was born January 10, 1919 in Peoria, IL, the son of August and Verla Hofstetter. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and received two Bronze Stars for combat operations and bravery. He married Evelyn Fuller and after her death he married Lois Braughton Wiseman August 8, 1970.
Jim retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. He was in Planning and New Facilities at the Decatur, IL Plant. He also was Plant and tooling Manager in Melbourne, Australia in 1981. He was a Caterpillar Employee for forty-two years.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed his friends and love of golf.
He was a former member of South Side Country Club in Decatur, and of Northdale Golf and Country Club of Tampa, Florida where he moved after retirement. He also enjoyed being a member of Golden K before moving to Florida.
He leaves behind his wife Lois of Decatur, sons Ronald and wife Cheryl and Jim and wife Anna all of Lake Havasu, Arizona, step-daughters Sheila Turner of Decatur and Pamela Knight and husband Jim of Tampa, Florida, step-son Terry Wiseman of Danville, Illinois, ten grandchildren,ten great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
