James D. Hunter's Obituary
Decatur-James D. 'J.D.' Hunter, 59, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in Aspen Ridge with his loving wife by his side.
No services are planned. Per his wishes cremation will take place at Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory.
J.D. was born March 28, 1952 in Decatur, the son of Selby and Alma (Gates) Hunter. He attended MacArthur High School and later got his GED. His proudest accomplishment was his 'Olde School Repair Shop' which he had to close in 2009 after he became ill. He enjoyed fishing marble collecting, cooking/grilling, and was an exceptional cook. J.D. had a special friendship with all animals. He especially loved to feed his squirrels peanuts that he always had in his pockets. He was married to Christine Collins. He later married Marsha (Shepard) Osborn on November 26, 1996.
He leaves behind Marsha, his beloved wife of nearly fifteen years, daughter, Tina Rae (Tommy) Thompson of Vandalia, son, Matthew C. (Angie) Osborn of Jacksonville, FL, currently stationed in Africa, grandchildren, Eli, Rebecca, Zack, Daniel, and Zeke Thompson of Vandalia and Eliza and Claire Osborn of Jacksonville, FL, and his best friend, Buster A. Katt who spent many hours with J.D. while he was ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Thomas Hunter, and favorite mother-in-law, Frances Lynch.
