James G. Jackson's Obituary
Decatur-James G. Jackson, Sr., 63, of Decatur, passed away at 8:14 pm Friday, February 6, 2009 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services to celebrate Jim’s life will be 2 pm Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Rev. John O’Brien officiating. Memorial visitation will be from 1-2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment with military rites provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and concluding with “Flight Home” ceremonies will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Jim was born November 8, 1945 in Decatur the son of Gordon and Avanell (Bailey) Jackson. He was a graduate of MacArthur High School class of 1964. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a carpenter. He married Carol Stogsdill December 18, 1966 in Decatur. They later divorced.
He leaves behind his son; James Jackson and wife Dawn of Decatur, daughter; Amanda Jackson of Decatur, grandchildren; Cole and Tanner, special nephew Jackie Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Jackie, and granddaughter Morgan.
