James C. Moore, Jr.'s Obituary
Decatur-James Civie Moore, Jr., 84, of Decatur, passed away at 7:25 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 in the Emergency Room at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services or visitation. Private family interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Jim was born September 25, 1925 in Burgaw, North Carolina the second son of James Civie and Daisy (Costin) Moore, Sr. He dropped out of school to fight for his country during World War II, where he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre. After his retirement from the Navy, where he served as an electrician’s mate first class and as Decatur’s navy recruiter, he served over twenty years as the Electrical Inspector for the City of Decatur. He married Madalyn Joan Chapman on January 3, 1953 in Waukegan, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 22, 2007.
He leaves behind his daughter; Deborah Joy and husband Barry Sanders of Decatur, son; Mark Steven Moore and wife Pat of Decatur, son; James Loren Moore of Aurora, Illinois, sisters; Lydia Belle Simmons of Hampton, Virginia and Betty Leary of Burgaw, North Carolina, brother; Philip Moore of Newport News, Virginia, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, wife, two brothers, and two sisters.
Thanks be to God that Dad was able to live on his own until the end of his earthly journey. There is a large space he leaves here that can never be filled.
