Decatur – James Darrell Phillips, 49, of Decatur passed from this life Sunday, June 21, 2015.
James was born on September 18, 1965 in Ripley, TN, the son of James A. Phillips and Ida V. Nash.
James worked as a cook at Pershing Estates for many years.
He leaves not to mourn but to cherish fond memories his mother, Ida V. (Isaac) Curry of Decatur; father, James A. Phillips of Chicago; fiancé, Loretta Taylor of Decatur; son, Tysten Taylor of Decatur; sisters: Debra Nash of Decatur, Angela (Joseph) Williams of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Lisa (Terrence) Caughman of NC; brother, Tony Herdle of Chicago; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing services to celebrate his life will be 11 am Friday, July 3, 2015 in the Greater Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church; visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial with Flight Home Ceremony will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
