James D. Pulliam's Obituary
Decatur-James D. Pulliam, 86, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 in Hickory Point Christian Village.
Services to celebrate James’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on June 4, 2015 at Grace land/Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Avenue, Decatur IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Maroa Township Cemetery concluding with military honors by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Decatur Genealogical Society.
James was born July 7, 1928 in Decatur, Illinois the son of Joseph and Luvincy (Siebert ) Pulliam.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a Korean War Veteran.
Jim worked in management for Illinois Bell Telephone Company & Ameritech, retiring after 29 years of service. On April 24, 1970 he married the love of his life, Martha (Dever) Pulliam in Tuscola, IL. They shared 38 wonderful years together traveling, working on genealogical research, playing cards with friends and enjoying time with each other. She preceded him in death on October 7, 2008. James was a member of the Decatur Genealogical Society & Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed spending time on the family farm, gardening and genealogical research on family members.
James leaves behind one sister, Wilma Fever of El Paso, IL. his nephews, Joseph (Joyce) Fever of Oreana, IL; Daniel (Janice) Fever of Gridley, IL; Gary(Joni) Polk of Savoy, IL; Steven Pulliam of Santa Barbara, CA; Michael Pulliam of Ventura, CA; nieces, Brenda Polk of Savoy, IL; and Susan Pulliam of Richmond, CA; several great nieces & nephews and several great¬great nieces & nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Donald Pulliam, and two sisters Norma Pulliam and Wanda Polk.
The family would like to thank all of Jim’s friends for their support during his extended care and a special thank you to Dr. Jerry & Susan Snyder for all their loving help, support and continued friendship.
