James Clayton Pygott's Obituary
James Clayton Pygott, 87, of Decatur, Il, passed away at Eastview Terrace, Sullivan, IL, at 7:39 A.M. on Thursday (08-15-2024).
James was born on February 17, 1937, in Decatur, IL, the son of Earl Harold Pygott and Pauline Ruth (Wolegmut) Pygott. He married Sharon Jordan on September 2, 1966, in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2010.
During life Jim served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a mechanic for the Decatur Park District for several years. After retirement you would find him working in the bakery of Cub Foods due to being bored in retirement. Jim enjoyed the best part of his life with his family. He could always be found listening or singing his favorite country western music, playing his guitar or spending quality time with his family.
He is survived by his children: James (Nancy) Pygott, Jr, of Raymondville, MO; Roberta (Nathan) Lighthouse of Sacramento, CA; Robin Pygott of Mt. Zion, IL; brother: Thomas (Eileen) Pygott of Decatur, IL, eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Larry, John, Billy, Richard and Robert, sisters Audrey and Sandra, and one grandson James C. Pygott.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday (08-20-2024) at Macon County Memorial Park.
