James "Jim" Richard Summers' Obituary
James R. Summers passed away February 13, 2024, at DMH surrounded by his family.
James was born 07/13/1947 in Decatur to Marian (White) Summers and Archie Summers. James married Annette Louise Brooks on November 12, 1966. They have two sons, Scott Michael Summers and Brian Patrick Summers. James was a mail carrier with USPS for a couple of years and went on to retire from Decatur Fire Department after 30 years of service. James was an avid fisherman and woodworker in his spare time. James was a proud member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL.
James was proceeded in death by his parents, loving wife Annette Summers and his brother, Robert Summers.
James leaves behind his sons, Scott M. Summers and Brian P. Summers and daughter-in-law, Robin M. Summers; grandchildren, Devin, Hayden, Zachery, Zoe and Parker.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make donations to First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Decatur.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The burial will follow services at North Fork Cemetery.
