James Edward Tackaberry Jr's Obituary
James Edward Tackaberry, Jr., 58, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away July 27, 2024, in his home.
Jimmy was born in Decatur on June 17, 1966, the fourth of six children born to James and Rosemary (Bowden) Tackaberry, Sr. He was a graduate of MacArthur High School, Class of 1985. He worked for over a decade as a screen printer for Dynagraphics in Decatur. Following that, he spent a few years at Firestone. His major work was as a machine operator for Mueller Company in Decatur, where he retired after over a decade and a half of service.
Jimmy loved family, always finding ways to care for them. He enjoyed attending West Side Church of the Nazarene with his parents and family. He was an avid gardener and landscaper, his favorite being Japanese maple trees. Jimmy’s big passions in life were patriotism, politics, and family. Jimmy was a kind man who was generous to a fault. When he had time to relax, he enjoyed socializing at Pop’s Place.
Jimmy is survived by his mother Rosemary; siblings Edwin Tackaberry, Wayne Tackaberry, Teresa (Darrel) Richardson, Katie (Kevin) Cook, and Jeff (Amy) Tackaberry; two adopted children, Randi and Jarrod; several grandchildren and a great-grandchild whom he loved very much; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father.
