James W. Urquhart's Obituary
James W. Urquhart, 83, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Springfield, IL. Born on June 8, 1943, in Decatur, IL, the son of David and Helen (McCracken) Urquhart.
James worked as an engineering manager at Caterpillar, where he served for 35 years. James married his beloved wife, Judy (Justice) Urquhart on July 31, 1966, in Decatur, IL. The two were inseparable and enjoyed traveling and spending time together. James was incredibly kindhearted; he was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather, and friend, caring for all those around him.
James is survived by his son, Robby (Holly) Urquhart; two granddaughters, Hannah and Abigail Urquhart; brother, Richard (Mindy) Urquhart and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
James was preceded in death by his adoring wife of 58 years, Judy Urquhart; his parents, David and Helen Urquhart; brothers, Charlie and Dale Urquhart; and sister, Edna Gray.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Ship. Condolences and memories may be made online at https://www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
