James Watson's Obituary
James Gordon Watson, 91, passed away at 9:01 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in Imboden Creek Living Center.
Services to celebrate the life of James will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in the chapel of the Star of the Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery with the 'Flight Home' Ceremony to conclude the service. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
James or Gordon as he was called growing up was born October 29, 1920 in Fithian, Illinois, the son of Frank and Alta (Trimmell) Watson. He married Mary Elenor Paternoster of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 28, 1942. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during W.W. II and saw action in the European Theatre. Upon returning from the war he settled in Decatur. He joined Caterpillar on May 23, 1946 and retired after more than thirty-six years of service on October 1, 1982.
He is survived by his wife, of more than seventy years, Mary, his son James and wife Joanne, granddaughters Vanessa and Emily, and several nieces and nephews which include Tony and Rosemary Ellis, Terry and Elly Ellis, John and Joanna Ellis, Richard and Lynn Watson, Charles and Sandy Watson, and Bertha Watson.
