Jan William Wagoner Sr's Obituary
Jan W. Wagoner, Sr. (84) of Decatur, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, in the home he loved, next to the person he loved the most, his wife, Marie.
Jan was born on January 27,1941, in Cerro Gordo, IL, son of the late John and Lois Wagoner. He married Marieanne Jo Sankowski on March 25th, 1974. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage together.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. Jan worked at Firestone for 32 years before retiring then worked as a courier for 10 years at Hickory Point Bank. Jan was full of life and loved to make people laugh. He was a wonderful husband and loving father. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Marie of Decatur; children, Jan W. (Tiffany) Wagoner, Jr of Decatur, Monica (Chris) Wagoner-Hamilton of Eldorado Springs, MO, Jeff (Kelly) Wagoner of Blue Mound; siblings, John (Cindy) Wagoner, Jr., Debbie Railsback, James (Carol) Wagoner, Jerry (Becky) Wagoner, Denise (Lyle) Moore; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many extended family members.
Jan was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Mindy L. Wagoner.
A funeral for Jan will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, at Grace Baptist Church in Decatur. Visitation will precede the service by one hour, beginning at 11:00 AM.
