Jane Francis Spicer's Obituary
In loving memory of Jane Francis Spicer (Denton), who passed away on June 21, 2023.
Jane Francis Spicer was born on May 21, 1943 in Olympia, WA to Francis John and Estola Jane (Collenberger) Denton. She was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of all she knew. Jane was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend.
Throughout her life, Jane exuded warmth, kindness, and compassion. She had a natural ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. Her infectious laughter and radiant smile brought joy to those around her.
Jane’s professional journey was marked by dedication and success. She excelled in her career as a Communication Specialist, serving for more than 20 years with Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were unparalleled.
In her free time, Jane enjoyed traveling with her beloved cousin Karoll and shopping for those “extremely neat” finds that adorned her home and apartment. She particularly had an affinity for Asian porcelain figurines and frogs. She found solace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Jane had a zest for life that was contagious, and her enthusiasm inspired those around her to embrace every moment.
Despite facing various challenged throughout her life, Jane remained resilient and strong. Her unwavering faith and positive outlook on life carried her through even the darkest times.
Jane leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be forever cherished. She is survived by her sons Jerry Spicer (Todd Stevens) of Pasadena, CA and Jason Johnson of Decatur; and grandchildren Madison Johnson of Chicago, IL and Aston Johnson of Sullivan, IL. She also leaves behind numerous friends and colleagues who were fortunate enough to have shared in her journey. Proceeding her in death include her parents, her husband Jerry E Spicer (1968), her brother Steve (2015), her life long love and companion Rick Chamberlain (2016), and many dear friends and extended family.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on July 23, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Imboden Creek Gardens, 185 W Imboden Drive, Decatur, IL. Please join us for hors d’oeuvres and beverages while we gather to remember and celebrate her.
As we bid farewell to Jane, let us remember the beautiful soul that she was and honor her memory by living our lives with the same love, kindness, and zest for life that she exemplified.
Rest in peace, dear Jane Francis Spicer. You will be deeply missed, but your love and spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
