Janet "Kathy" Kathleen Herold's Obituary
Janet "Kathy" Kathleen Herold
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Janet "Kathy" Kathleen Herold, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who left us on July 15, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Kathy was born on December 25, 1962, in Tuscola, Illinois, to Carl Russell Rodmaker and Louise Ellen Reeder. She brought immense joy and warmth to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kathy graduated from Lakeview High School in 1980. On May 4, 1985, she married Michael Wayne Herold in Decatur, Illinois. Their marriage was a true testament to love and companionship, marked by countless cherished moments and shared dreams. Kathy and Mike especially enjoyed going on motorcycle rides together, exploring the open road and creating unforgettable memories.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Mike, of Decatur; her two devoted sons, Michael Herold of Decatur and Ryan (Kassie) Herold of Allegan, Michigan; her dear brother, Douglas Rodmaker of Decatur; and her four beloved grandchildren, Corbin, Lyric, Alyana, and Kane. Each of them carries a part of her spirit and will forever be touched by her love and kindness.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Louise, and her brother, Steven Rodmaker.
Though their absence was deeply felt, Kathy always carried their love and wisdom in her heart, and now she joins them in eternal peace.
A celebration of Kathy's life will be held to honor her memory and the incredible impact she had on our lives. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Rest in peace, Kathy. You will be deeply missed and always remembered.
A memorial service will be held for Katy on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 3pm at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.
