Janet Louise Robertson's Obituary
Janet L. Robertson, formerly of Decatur IL, passed away on Oct 22, 2023.
She was born Nov 22, 1945, in Decatur to parents, David L. Robertson and Dolores C Robertson.
She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School. In her youth she excelled as a violinist and in competitive swimming. She earned a BS in Zoology from the University of Illinois, and a MA degree in teaching from Reed College. Janet taught high school in Oregon for three years. She returned to central Illinois in 1972 and achieved a master's degree in Biology from Illinois State University. She worked in agricultural research and a variety of other jobs including substitute teaching and as an optician. She made several trips abroad, snorkeling in the ocean off Mexico, and seeing the sites of Ireland. Janet enjoyed being an aunt to her nieces and nephews. She loved gardening and took pleasure in giving away jam from the raspberries that she tended in her back yard. She loved all animals, especially cats. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her brother David, his wife Adienne of Spencer Indiana and their children Colin and Sonia. She is also survived by her brother Bruce and wife Cindy of Matthews NC and their children Seyller, Bryant, and Elizabeth.
A graveside service will be held at 11AM on November 14th at Fairlawn Cemetery, 1600 W King St., Decatur, IL.
