Janet Claire Winter's Obituary
Janet Claire Winter, 67, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield with her family by her side.
Janet was born April 6, 1948 in Chicago to James and Sylvia (Kwiatek) Lyons. She married William “Bill” Winter on October 17, 1970 in Roselle, IL. She was a teaching assistant for the Decatur Public Schools for 20 years.
Janet was a member of the Illinois Home Extension, Decatur Needle Arts Society, Lake Shore Connection and Senior Bowling League. She loved needlepoint, bowling and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bill; her two sons, Jim (Michelle) Winter of Dubuque, IA and Andrew Winter of Fredericksburg, VA; six grandchildren, Eric, Kayla, Kalena, Michael, Peyton and Ryan.
Services to celebrate the life of Janet Winter will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm. Friday, September 18, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to American Heart Association.
