Janey Walker's Obituary
Harriett J. “Janey” Walker, 101, of Mt. Zion, IL formerly of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2021 at Liberty Village in Clinton.
Janey was born on April 3, 1920 in Maroa, IL the daughter of Cordell and Gladys Parr Bolen. Janey married Alvin Dean Walker on August 4, 1939 in St. Louis, MO. Dean passed away on May 21, 2008. Janey is survived by her children: Carolyn (Gene) Stoner of Ivesdale, IL; Joe (Sherry) Walker of Firestone, CO; Jim (Sheryl) Walker of Decatur; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Janey was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 1 sister Barbara “Bobbie” Peck, 1 grandson and 1 great-grandson.
Janey was devoted to her family, serving as the Matriarch of the family. She was an amazing cook. She also loved to tend to her flower and vegetable gardens, including picking up sticks and weeds around her home. She also loved to have an impeccably clean house.
Services to celebrate Janey’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home, Decatur. Janey will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery.
