Janice Louise Waddell's Obituary
Janice Louise Waddell, 75, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away June 7, 2025, in her home.
Janice was born in Clinton, Illinois, on May 13, 1950, the daughter of Everett Leslie Jackson and Bonnie Lou (Atteberry) Jackson. She married Darrell Waddell on May 7, 1977, in Decatur. Janice was a homemaker whose generous spirit touched many lives. She was a faithful member of Fellowship Church in Mt. Zion. She devoted 25 years to making blankets for Project Linus, providing comfort to countless children in times of crisis. She was an avid crafter, canner, and thrift shopper. Her outdoor activities included gardening and camping. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She never missed a grandchild’s game or performance until her health prevented her from attending. She was exceptionally kind, opening her heart and home to those who needed help. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Janice is survived by her husband Darrell of Decatur; son Kyle (Gail) Waddell of Athens, IL; sisters Gayle Bronson, Marcia Zellner, and Julie Vest, all of Decatur; sister-in-law Nancy Shipman of Decatur; grandchildren Eleanor Waddell, Victoria Waddell, and Joliene Waddell, all of Athens; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother David Jackson.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Janice. A Celebration of Life hosted by the family will be held at a later date. For details, please contact Kyle directly. Memorials may be directed to Project Linus. Condolences may be shared with the family at https://www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
