Jean E. Sweitzer's Obituary
Decatur-Jean E. Sweitzer, 76, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Jean was born October 2, 1937 in Burns City, Indiana the daughter of Richard and Helen (Patterson) Anderson. She was employed as a proof reader with Rand McNally for twenty-five years. She then became the church secretary for South Shores Christian Church retiring after thirty-four years of service. She was a member of First Lutheran Church. Jean was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a strong and caring person all her life. She loved her family and we will miss her greatly. She loved to travel and was a die-hard Cubs fan. She was an excellent baker and baked cakes for many years. She loved spending time with her family especially her three grandchildren always making time for them. She was the best Grammy in the world. Her courage and faith were amazing to all who knew and loved her. She touched so many lives. She gave so much love and support we are truly blessed for having had her in our lives. She married Glen Sweitzer February 18, 1961.
Jean leaves behind her husband Glen, sons Phil Sweitzer and wife Jan and Gary Sweitzer and wife Amy, grandchildren Lindsay, Matthew, and Rachel Sweitzer, brothers Andy Anderson and wife Shirley, Kenney Anderson, and Frank Anderson, sisters Carolyn Arndt and husband Alan and Teresa Tappendorf and husband Lyle, and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was reunited in Heaven with her parents.
The family would like to give a special thank to Dr. Velasco and the nurses on 5100 and ICU at DMH for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Jean’s life will be 12 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Cats Only.
