Jeanette Kay Hoyt's Obituary
Jeanette Kay Hoyt (MawMaw), 78, peacefully passed away on August 1, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1944 in Champaign, IL to George and Sarah Ferguson. Jeanette graduated from McArthur High School in 1962 and then attended SIU Carbondale studying English. She returned home to Decatur with David Hoyt, the love of her life, and they married in 1964. They had 55 beautiful years of marriage that involved running a successful homebuilding business in Decatur, Jupiter, FL, and the Lake of the Ozarks, MO for many years. Together they enjoyed traveling with friends and being the best possible role models and support systems for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jeanette loved to learn, read, and enjoy delicious meals with her family and friends. She was an avid movie goer and she taught her family to enjoy the arts by taking them to plays at the Fox in St. Louis. MawMaw was the most kind and intentional soul in everything she did. She was a compassionate person that unselfishly helped others. Her family and friends will miss her dearly, but she wouldn’t want us to be sad in her remembrance; she would want us to “Go for it and live life to the absolute fullest.”
Jeanette is survived by her children; a son, Jeff (Tonya) Hoyt and a daughter, Amy (Rob) Arthur. The most adored Maw Maw, leaves grandchildren, Jordon Hoyt, Rhobie Arthur (Matt) Ordman, Ryley Arthur, and Rachel (Josh) Bentz. MawMaw’s pride and joy great granddaughters, Oakley Rose Bentz, Rowan Maelynn Bentz, and Hadley Grace Compagni; sisters Cathy (Scott) Wilkinson and Alice (Frank) Montagnino; and sisters-in-law Karen Hoyt and Jackie (Sam) Younker; and several nieces and nephews. Jeanette also leaves her loving friends; you know who you are.
She is preceded in death by her parents Sarah and George and her husband Dave.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contribution in memory of Jeanette to the Humane Society of Decatur, 3373 N Woodford St, Decatur, IL 62526 to help saving and finding forever homes for pets, like her beloved Evvie and Nola.
Per her wishes, cremation rights will be accorded by Graceland/Fairlawn Cremation Center. A private family and close friend burial will be held to put Jeanette and Dave to rest together, to finally reunite their souls for eternity.
