Jeffrey J. Allen's Obituary
Decatur- Jeffrey James Allen, 49 of Decatur IL. passed away on Sunday November 23, 2014 in his home. Jef was known as “UNC” (Uncle) and “Jef Alen” to all his nieces and nephews as he told them he was “Going Green”, and didn’t need 2 F’s or 2 L’s in his name!
Jef was born on June 16, 1965 in Decatur, IL. to James Lewis and Carole (Dobson) Allen. He received his GED in 1987 at Richland Community College, a degree in Business Management in 2002 at Rend Lake College and an Associates in Liberal Studies in 2006 at Lake Land College. All of which he had a 4.0 GPA. He was to begin classes for his TI degree in January 2015.
As we come together to celebrate Jef’s life, the family’s hearts are completely broken and we are devastated beyond belief by his passing. He will be missed so deeply by all of us and everyone who had just a moment to know him! His happy cheerful whistle in the mornings when he woke to his noisy cereal snack before bed, has been silenced. Jef grew up in Decatur, but has lived in Denver, Colorado; Houston, Texas and Owasso, Oklahoma. He loved construction, remodeling and repair, yard work and landscaping, but his passion was music and computers. He was a wealth of information on just about anything! He was a very busy, happy, likable person, and One Smart Guy! He was a huge asset to our family and we are sure he had touched many of your lives as well. He recently told me “I just feel like something is missing and I can’t figure out what it is”. We will never know what was missing in his life. Jef never knew a stranger, as he was always ready and willing to help anybody out. He loved his family with all his heart and has expressed how Thankful he was to have all of us. He truly loved his nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was good at always teaching them some sort of “Life Lessons” especially when they
didn’t want to hear it!
He is survived by his mother, Carole (Bob) Agney; one brother, Troy “Freak Dog” (Kimberly) Allen; two sisters, Shawn (Terry) McWilliams and Penny (Scott) Stonecipher; nephews, Joel(Jennifer) McWilliams, Danel Barry, Zack (Samantha) Emert; nieces, Ashley (Don Stubblefield) McWilliams and Megan McWilliams; great-nephews, Dylan, Camron, Aidan, Chance and Eli; great nieces, Katlin (Cameron), Nicole Paige, Chloe, Destine, Malyah, Cabela, Zoe, Megan (Colby). Jef also leaves behind a Special Love, Heidi
He was preceded in death by his dad, James Lewis Allen; baby brother, Joel Lane Allen and grandparents, Helen and Hershel Allen.
Sincere Love to the Osman/Brandon Family with Great Admiration to Jef’s nephew Chad Osman
Special Thank You to Dr. Jeffrey Smith who was taking care of his arm that he hurt in a work accident and to Wendy for the long hours of therapy on his arm.
