Jerry Lee O 'Dell's Obituary
Decatur – Jerry Lee O'Dell, 71, of Decatur went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 30, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Jerry was born on May 9, 1940 on Mattoon, IL the son of Bruce and Irene (Pauley) O'Dell. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and was a retired Mechanic from Bob & Ron's Repair Service working for 42 years. He married Mary Worthey on December 15, 1962 in Decatur. He was a friend to all who knew him. He was also called Papa HoHo to his great-grandchildren. He and Mary went to Gospel Chapel and served the Lord.
Surviving are his wife Mary; daughters, Tina Marie McClanahan (Cliff) of Decatur; Patricia Lynne Purcell (Scott) of Atoka, TN; brothers, Kenny O'Dell (Penny) of Decatur; Mike O'Dell of Decatur; Thomas O'Dell (Tammy) of Florida; sisters, Delores Allen of Mattoon; Sharon Walker of South Dakota; Vickie Davis of Decatur; Frances Trail of Decatur; Susan Kingery (Thomas) of Harristown; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jerry O'Dell Jr., and brother, John O'Dell.
Funeral service to celebrate Jerry's life will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Gospel Chapel, 1900 W. Cushing with Pastor Gene Worthey officiating . Visitation will be one hour before the service in the Church. Burial will be in Harristown Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard and conclude with the 'Flight Home' ceremony. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
