Jerry Phipps' Obituary
Decatur-Jerry Phipps, 75 of Decatur, passed away 3:30 pm Monday, March 22, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services to celebrate Jerry's life will be 2:00 pm Monday March 29, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Pritts officiating. Visitation will from 1 ' 2:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Interment concluding with the 'Flight Home' ceremony will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Second Church of God, Decatur, IL or Special Olympics. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Jerry was born on September 30, 1934 in Decatur the son of Charles and Gen (Peters) Phipps. Jerry was employed as a cook's assistant and dishwasher for hospitals in the Tucson, AZ area.
He is survived by four cousins Hazel Bernice Sullivan of Argenta, Shirley Johnson of Decatur, Connie Peters of Decatur, and Rose Nihiser of Decatur; two nieces and five nephews and his longtime friend Bill Harmon of Decatur.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Victor, and his sisters Jackie Thompson Kissar and Carole Phipps.
