Jerry Lynn Shively's Obituary
Cerro Gordo – Jerry Shively (84) of Cerro Gordo, IL passed away on April 7th, 2015 at 3:00pm lovingly surrounded by family.
He was born October 9th, 1930 the son of Cyril and Josephine (Smith) Shively. He worked at Caterpillar for 30 years. During his retirement, he kept busy delivering Meals on Wheels for 20 years, volunteering at the Hope Welty Library, the Lord’s Store House, serving on the cemetery board, and playing cards and “42” with friends. Jerry was an avid Cubs and Illini basketball fan. He married Charlotte Morganthaler on May 6th, 1950.
He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Dana Davidson, and her husband Edward, his son, Robin Shively, and his wife Michelle. Five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, brother, Gene Shively, of Sun City Center, FL and sister, Denise Rickleff, of Indianapolis, IN.
Private graveside service will be held in La Place, IL for immediate family only. A memorial service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on May 2nd at 3:00pm at the Cerro Gordo Church of the Brethren, fellowship to follow. Memorials can be made to the Hope Welty Public Library in Cerro Gordo, IL.
