Joan Margaret Grider's Obituary
Joan Margaret (Lamb) Grider, 87, of Decatur passed away on February 26, 2019 at home after a six month fight with cancer. She was born in Decatur on November 24, 1931, the daughter of Bert William and Mary Blanche (Crispin) Lamb. She married Harold Lee Grider September 16, 1950. He passed away February 21, 2007.
Joan graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1949, where she served as Senior Class Vice-President and cheerleader. She was an Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters 1948-49, served as a Girl Scout Leader and PTA officer. She retired from Magna (Millikin) Bank in February 1990. She was a member of Crestview Christian Church where she served in many capacities, Macon County Association for Home & Community Education (Hickory Point Unit) and a member of the DMH Auxiliary, volunteering at the Cancer Care Center.
Joan is survived by daughters; Sandra (Larry) Bopes of Rock Island, IL, Cheryl (Steven) Kershaw of Indianapolis, IN, Lisa (Joe) May of Decatur, and Lori (Robert) Creamer of Oreana. She is also survived by grandchildren Nathan Bopes, Megan, Daniel and Michael Kershaw, Alex May, Grace (Luke) Highley, Camden Cripe and great-grandson Maddon Highley, expected in April. Additional survivors include step-grandchildren Brandon (Madison) Creamer, Clayton Creamer, Audria (Aron) Doty, Joey and Shannon May; step-great-grandchildren Liliana, Emmara, Maximus, Wesley, Dexter, Cali, and Grant. Other survivors include special sister-in-law, Melinda (Loren) Hiser of Oreana; nephew, Ron (Vonda) Lamb; nieces Mary Jo (Tom) Bartimus and Linda (Ed) Fitzgerald.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers William, Robert, Harold; 2 sisters-in-law, great granddaughter MaKenzee Jo Rogers and niece Peggy (Jim) Schatz. Family requests in lieu of plants and flowers that donations be made to the family for charities to be decided.

Services are scheduled for Monday March 4, 2019 at 10 am at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Ave, in Decatur. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 3 from 1 until 4 pm at Graceland.
