Joe Karl's Obituary
Joe Karl, 70, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Mattoon Health Care Center.
Joe was born August 18, 1948, in Decatur, the son of Ben and Helen (Buchanan) Karl.
Surviving are his wife, Ginny Karl; a son, Joey Karl of Decatur; three daughters, Lydia (Nathan) Witsman of Charleston; Hope (Ron) Trimmer of Decatur; Shelby Karl of Decatur; seven grandchildren, Ellie, Noah, Harlen, Ronald, Sean, Leah, and J.J.; a brother, Ray Karl of Decatur; a sister, Nola (Murrell) Hall of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jimmie Reeves, Jr.; a brother, Ralph Karl; and a sister, Mary Flitz.
Joe served in the United States Army. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene for many years. He was a very caring and loving person who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a faithful man of God. The family will always remember him waking up in the morning and reading his Bible at the table.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery with military honors.
