John B. Rice's Obituary
Decatur – John B. aka “JB or Jack” Rice, 81, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015, in his home.
John was born March 24, 1933 in Decatur to James McKay and Dorothy Mae (Berry) Rice. He married Arlene Joann Stout on December 17, 1966. She passed away in 2006. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. John was retired Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy. He also worked at Caterpillar and Deckard Property Management.
He is survived by his five children, Nelson (Kim) Rice and Linn (Sherri) Rice, Jacqueline (Larry) Deckard all of Decatur, Rikki Hays of Cookeville, TN and Tricia Rice of Decatur; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great- granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene “Joann” and one brother, James Nelson Rice.
Please come celebrate John’s life with us on Saturday, February 7, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Deckard Property Management 3133 North Woodford Street, Suite A, Decatur. Cards and flowers may be sent to the same location any time before the service. In honoring John’s wishes cremation services were provided by Graceland/ Fairlawn Cremation Center. Memorials may be directed to American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
