John Patrick Brilley's Obituary
John Patrick Brilley, Jr., 89, of Decatur, passed away, Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.
John was born March 25, 1928 in Decatur, to John Patrick and Vesta (Davis) Brilley, Sr. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy during WWII and Korea. He married Ruth Skaggs on March 21, 1953 in Decatur, IL. John loved his wife more than life itself. He was a hard worker and great provider for his family. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed his music.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth; five children, Barry Allen Brilley of Decatur, Stephen Patrick Brilley of Decatur, Timothy Bert Brilley of Rockledge, FL, Martin Jon (Sheryl) Brilley of Decatur and Kristina Ruth (Bruce) Porter of Glen Carbon, IL; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
Private family graveside services to celebrate the life of John Brilley will be held. Military honors will be provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to Shriner’s Hospital for Children 4400 Clayton Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110.
