CULUMBER
DECATUR- John Woodrow 'Woody' Culumber, 58 of Decatur, passed from the loving arms of his family to the loving arms of his Savior at 6:45 PM Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Service to celebrate Woody's life will be held at Noon Friday, May 14, 2010 in Tabernacle Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Wes Feltner. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 on Thursday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home and 10 am to noon Friday at the church. Interment will be in the Tower Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Brain Tumor Association or to the Special Olympics District 10. Online condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Woody was born on April 23, 1952 in Decatur, son of Paul Q. and Betty Jane (Underwood) Culumber. He was a Senior Marketing Consultant for the Cromwell Radio Group. Woody was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, The Radio Advertising Bureau and a huge supporter of the Special Olympics. He was a bird enthusiast, and enjoyed fishing, the Illini and the Cardinals. Woody married Sherry L. Robinson on February 1, 2003 at Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Woody leaves his loving family including his wife- Sherry, children- Stephanie Dilley and husband Bart of Pana, Emily Jewell and husband Chris of Tolono, Anne Bushman and husband Derek of Champaign, Zachary Culumber and girlfriend Christian of College Station, TX, and Carly Robinson at home, brothers- Bill Q. Culumber and wife Dorie of Biloxi, MS,i and Joe Culumber and wife Caryl of Greenville, grandchildren- Meghan and Olivia both of Pana and his faithful Dachshund- Petey.
He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, twin sons- Jason Wyatt and Zachary Paul and one sister- Christine Culumber.
Woody's proudest accomplishments were witnessing for the Lord by sharing his faith through his actions and his love for others. Anyone who knew him knew the amazing love and pride he had for his children and grandchildren. He loved sharing all of their accomplishments big or small with any and everyone!
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Esparaz, Dr. Elliott, their staffs and the many compassionate nurses on 5100 and ICU at DMH. We are blessed that they have all been willing to use the gifts God has blessed them with.
He didn't know a stranger and all of our lives are more fulfilled and blessed to have been called his family and friends.
