FORSYTH- John W. 'Bill' Current, 87 of Forsyth, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, August 20, 2010, with his family at his side after a brief illness.
Services to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 2 PM on Monday, August 23, 2010 in the Forsyth United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 12:30 until the time of the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in the Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, with military rights conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the Forsyth United Methodist Church or to the Forsyth Library. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Bill was born on May 2, 1923 in Decatur, a son of Alva John and Mabel I. (Hoggins) Current. Bill served his country in the Coast Guard during WWII. Bill worked as a brick mason and he was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 8 of Illinois. He was a member of the Forsyth United Methodist Church. Bill never missed any of his grandsons' sporting events. He loved his family and always enjoyed being there to support them. He married Barbara J. Williams on June 9, 1946 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife Barbara of over 64 years, daughter- Becky Wayne and her husband Rick, brother- James Current and his wife Alice of Forsyth, sister Mary Gardner and her husband Wesley of Forsyth, brother-in-law- Robert C. Williams of Decatur, two grandchildren- Joseph Anderson and his wife Angie of Fenton, MO. and Jason Anderson and his wife DaNiel of Stonington and four great grandchildren- Rayel, Sophie, Braxton and Brogan Anderson and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was greeted in Heaven by his parents.
