John E. Eubanks' Obituary
John E. Eubanks, 73, of Decatur, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, with his wife, Rose and loving family by his side.
John was born January 3, 1946, in Perthshire, Mississippi to Leroy and Florida (Sanlin) Eubanks. He married Rose Brown on April 25, 1966 in Decatur, IL and together they raised six beautiful children. John was an operator for A.E. Staley for 30 years and later worked in the Vitamin E Plant at ADM for 20 years. He coached JFL football and youth basketball for 10 years in the late 70s and early 80s. He also was the Holy Family assistant basketball coach in the 70s with head coach Bob Kirk. John enjoyed playing and coaching basketball. He was amazing at barbequeing, loved going fishing, competing in the “Swami” competitions with his children, watching the Chicago Bulls play, playing Santa Clause for his grandchildren and watching professional boxing. John was also a former member of AIW Local 837.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rose; five children, John (Gayle) Eubanks, Jr. of Mascoutah, IL, Tracy (Kim) Eubanks of Decatur, IL, Jamie (Hope) Eubanks of Decatur, IL, Mark Eubanks of Decatur, IL and Sandy (Junior) Rogers of Mahomet, IL; fourteen grandchildren, Jacy(Robbie), Jayde, Paige (Randy), Taylor (Liz), Aaron (Mackenzie), Derrick (Amber), Jordan, Kaitlyn, Tristan, Kartlee, Cohen, Drue, Skye and Quenton; four great-grandchildren, RJ, Dominic, Carter, Harper and two on the way; and his sister, Ellen Eubanks of Decatur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Candy Eubanks; five brothers, Leroy Jr, George, James, Jake and Curtis and one sister, Virgie; and his grandmother, Annie Sanlin.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be private family. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery.
