John F. Hooge's Obituary
John F. Hooge, 94, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at his home. 
John was born on August 16, 1925 in Decatur, son of John and Lucretia (Pridemore) Hooge. John enlisted in the US Army following graduation from high school and served during World War II as a medic. He worked for Kroger for over 60 years as a butcher and later as a marketing representative. John was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church.  
John is survived by his two sons: Mike (Linda) Hooge of Decatur, Eric (Margaret) Hooge of Morton; one daughter: Pamela (Gordon) Speagle of Decatur; grandchildren: Christopher Dial, Amy (Sean Christian) Carter, Megan Dial, (Jason Morrison), Gordon (Kaya) Speagle Jr, Melissa (Matthew) Tipton,  and Jonathan (Takara) Speagle; great grandchildren:  Zander and Lilly Morrison, Greyson Dial, Katelyn Carter, Camille and Soren Speagle,  Elijah, Isabella and Olivia Tipton.; nephews Joe Leon Hitchery of Niantic, CT and Jerry Lambert of Flossmoor, IL, and special friend Lois Pasley of Maroa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Toni Dial and her husband Martin Dial; his brother, Leon Lambert and his sister, Juanita Hitchery. 
 
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM on Wednesday at the church, burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his name may be left to Grace United Methodist Church. Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
