John Karmazinas' Obituary
John Anthony Karmazinas, 84, of Van Buren, AR formerly of Decatur, IL died May 30, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, AR.
John was born December 16, 1933, the son of John and Vivian (Brunes) Karmazinas. He served his country proudly as a paratrooper in the US ARMY. He married, Margaret Sexton on April 20, 2014 in Alma, AR.
John worked for American Steamship Company of the Great Lakes. He entered service as a deckhand and retired as a Captain after 30 years of service.
John was a member of the Church of Christ in Alma, AR. He enjoyed running, bicycling, fishing, woodworking, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family. He did not know a stranger and was friendly to everyone.
Surviving are his spouse Margaret; Children, Kurt Karmazinas (Lisa) of Arcola, IL, Leigh Ann Lee (Robert) of Dublin, GA, Tony Karmazinas (Kiley) of Dexter, GA; sister, Janice Thompson (Tom) of Illinois; grandchildren, Kathryn (Cody) of Oklahoma, City, OK, Kayle of Arcola, IL, Klairyn of Champaign, IL, Kauryn of Champaign, IL, Alayna of Dublin, GA, Jada of Dublin, GA, Stephanie of Dublin, GA, Kohan of Dexter, GA and Kruz of Dexter, GA.
He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Delores.
Funeral service will be 11 AM Friday, June 8, 2018 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 AM – 11 AM Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.
