Decatur-John A. Maple, Sr., 63 of Decatur, passed away 9:50 am Monday, March 8, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 5 ' 7:00 pm Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. John's family would like to suggest casual attire for those attending. As per John's wishes cremation rites will be accorded with no services scheduled. Memorial donations may be directed to the wishes of the family. John was born on November 28, 1946 in Decatur the son of William and Margery (Hedrick) Maple. John and Debra Sharp were married on April 29, 1998 in Edwardsville, IL. John was employed as an auto and truck mechanic and also worked as a truck driver. He was an avid NASCAR Racing Fan with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt, Jr, he also enjoyed motorcycle riding and dancing, and relaxing with a drink of Tequilla.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Debi, his mother Margery Maple of Decatur; his sons John (wife ' Dawn) Maple, Jr. of Mendota, IL; William (wife ' Danielle) Maple of Tampa, FL, and Richard (wife ' Stormy) Maple of Yuba, CA; his daughter Shirley (husband ' Brian) Hoff of Decatur; his step-daughter Teri (husband ' Brent) Barnett of Riverton, IL; his brothers Ronald (wife ' Carolyn) Maple of Oakley, IL, Joe (wife ' Margie) Maple of Laporte, TX, and Les (wife – Redonda) Maple of Hugo, OK; his sister Judy (husband ' Steve) Miller of Mt. Zion, IL; his loving grandchildren Heather, Sean, Christopher, Katie, Drew, Matt, Jordan, Madison, Jacob, Luke, Logan, Brittany, Caitlyn, Samantha, Sydney, Stephanie, Hannah, Rebecca, and Sarah; a great granddaughter Rebekka; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father William and brothers Billy, Charles, David, and Harry.
John's family would like to express heart felt thanks to Dr. Ellington for his great care, also Dr. Perdekamp and everyone that cared and prayed for John.
