John Wayne McGhee's Obituary
John Wayne McGhee, Sr., 76 of Clinton, IL, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Urbana, IL. John was born on July 29, 1949, in Shawneetown, IL, the son of Fred and Aline (Barger) McGhee.
John married his beloved wife, Phyllis (Smith) McGhee, on January 12, 1969, in Clinton, IL. He worked as an operator at the Clinton Landfill, retiring after 20 years. John loved John Deere and working on cars, but most of all, he loved his family. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
John is survived by his wife — Phyllis; children — John McGhee, Jr., of Clinton IL, Patricia McGhee of Decatur, IL, Jeff McGhee of Clinton, IL, and Quirstian Dominguez; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents — Fred and Aline McGhee; and brothers — Fred McGhee, Jr., and Cletus McGhee.
A visitation will be held from 4-6pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur, IL.
