John P. McNamara's Obituary
John P. McNamara 53, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday April 24, 2016, in his residence.
John was born July 22, 1962, in Decatur, IL, the son of Daniel and Lois (Mattingly) McNamara . He worked as a truck driver for many years. He married Wendy Steinkirchner on December 3, 1993 in Milwaukee, WI. They shared twenty-three wonderful years. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, was an avid Bears and Chicago Cubs fan, and most of all, loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Wendy McNamara of Decatur; mother, Lois Fornwalt of Cerro Gordo; stepmother, Valerie McNamara of Georgia; sons, Scott (Michelle) Belanger of Milwaukee, WI, Michael Thornton of Atwood, IL, Steven (Megan) McNamara of Milwaukee, WI, John McNamara of Decatur; daughters, Char (Brad) Murray of Milwaukee, WI,Laura (Matthew) Sliney of Warrensburg, Kayla McNamara of Decatur; brothers, Ken Buckley of TX, Brent (Julie) McNamara of Cerro Gordo, Daniel (Julie) McNamara of Evansville, IL; sisters, Sue Sides of Forsyth, Barb (Earl) Clifton of Decatur, IL, Ericka (Steve) Johnson of Decatur, Kelly (Jason) Janvrin of GA, Kanessa (Chauncy) Douglas of Decatur, IL; ten grandchildren, a host of extended family members, and his faithful companion, Scurb Durb.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel McNamara; brother, Dale McNamara; sister, Tina Scott; and step-father, Phil Fornwalt.
Services to celebrate John’s life will be held at 2p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family, C/O Wendy McNamara.
