John J. Meixner's Obituary
John J. Meixner, 91, of Decatur passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
John was born on December 15, 1925 in Decatur the son of John E. and Clara B. (Fuehser) Meixner. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He graduated from Millikin University in 1949. He retired from Illinois Power where he was Project Administrator during construction of the Clinton Power Station in Clinton, IL. He married Verl Younger on August 17, 1947 in Bethany, IL
.
Surviving are his wife, Verl of 69 years; children, Jeff Meixner of Decatur; Marilyn Meixner of Decatur; Craig Meixner (Kimberly) of Northbrook; grandchildren, Eric, Kevin, Kate, and Kylie; and his little dog, Georgie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fred, Edward, and Charles, and sister Lila Landis.
It brings us comfort to know he lived a full life. He traveled many places in the world and enjoyed it so much. That will be one of his legacies as we will always think of him when we are traveling or on an adventure through the rest of our lives.
The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Decatur Memorial Hospital especially DMH ER and 4100 staff.
Graveside service to celebrate John’s life will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Marrowbone Township Cemetery in Bethany with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to donor’s choice.
