John Robert Rector, 63, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
John was born January 3, 1953, in Springfield, IL to Oliver and Nellie (Meyer) Rector. He served in the United States Air Force. He married Mary Annette Tackett on March 5, 2010 in Springfield, IL. He was a member of Elm Street Christian Church in Springfield and Pleasant Plains Mason Lodge # 700.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Barbara Rector of Michigan; mother, Nellie Rector of Springfield, IL; step-daughter, Jeanette (Nick) Hurelbrink of Decatur, IL; granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Rector; four step-grandchildren, Frank Schnetzler, Damien and Liberty Scales, and Jah’Kaya Johnson; two sisters, Kathleen (Ralph) Winch of Springfield, IL and Linda Singh of Springfield, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of John Rector will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2016, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Memorials may be directed to the family.
