Decatur – John Stewart, 54, of Decatur, passed away at 1:30 am Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his residence with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate John’s life will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the funeral home. Interment with “Flight Home” Ceremony will be at Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. John was born January 27, 1956 in Decatur, the son of William Paul and Grace Maybell (Qualls) Stewart. He was a partner in Stewart Brothers Meat Packing. He was a member of the Eagles Club and Knights of Columbus. John loved spending time with his family. He married Michelle Coventry January 28, 2000 in Springfield.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Michelle of Decatur, sons; John David Stewart of Toledo, IL, and David Alan and Robert Paul Stewart both of Decatur, daughters; Kristy Bachman of Tulsa, OK and Ashlie Stewart of Kansas City, MO, stepsons; Corey Bechtel of Lafayette, IN and Colin Bechtel of Decatur, stepdaughter; Chloe Bechtel of Decatur, brothers; William Paul Stewart and wife Jackie, Thomas Kelly Stewart and wife Carla, and Randy Scott Stewart all of Decatur, sisters; Pauline Sue Batt and husband Kenneth of Eldred, PA and Donna Grace Nihiser and husband Gerald of Decatur, and eight grandchildren.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, son; John Joseph, and sister; Dolores Margaret Cesar.
