Johnny Franklin Magoulias' Obituary
Johnny Franklin Magoulias, 79, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 11:23 P.M. on Monday (04-20-2026) at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Johnny was born on October 22, 1946, in Decatur, IL, the son of Pete John Magoulias and Dorothy Fostinis (Woodruff) Magoulias. He married Constance Angela Roemelin on July 25, 1970, in Decatur, IL.
John served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Caterpillar for 37 years and retired as a Process Planner in 2002. He was a simple man who loved the outdoors, which included hunting and fishing. He also loved guns and was a member of the Left Handers Gun Club in Loami, IL. John also loved target shooting, and varmint shooting. He was very much a DYI kinda guy who was also very good at woodworking. John was very generous with his talents and loved to share them with family and friends. Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Connie of Decatur, IL, of almost 56 years of marriage; son: Travis Jon Magoulias of Rochester, IL; daughter: Nina Lynn Magoulias of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren: Tate Ferguson of Knoxville, TN; Hunter Ferguson of Columbia, MO; and Cort Magoulias of Rochester, IL; sister: Connie Futrell of Decatur, IL; and Nina’s dog “Dash” who loved John very much!
A Private family funeral service will be held on Saturday (04-25-2026) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL, at a later date.
