Jonathan Luke Kates' Obituary
Decatur-Jonathan Luke Kates, 56, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Jonathan was born March 15, 1961 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Peter J. and Isabell E. Kates. He was employed with GCA Services at Caterpillar and a member of GT Church. Jonathan was very artistic and enjoyed quilting, camping, and especially spending time with family. He married Tonya S. Dasenbrock on April 18, 1998.
Jonathan leaves behind his wife Tonya, daughters Savannah and Cheyenne Kates and Brittany Collins and her daughter Kaylen, father Peter Kates, sisters Mary Ann (Patrick) Mullen, Kathy (John) Frazier, Teresa (Frank) Vossos, and Kelly (Gene) Klemaier, brothers Peter “Jay” (Becky) Kates, David (Cindy) Kates, Kenneth (Rhonda) Kates, Mark (Patty) Kates, Nick (Krista) Kates and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his mother Isabell.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff with DMH, the Gift of Hope, family, church family, and friends for all of their loving care, prayers, and support during this most difficult time.
Services to celebrate Jonathan’s life will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at GT Church, 500 S 27th St, Decatur, with Pastor Rick Spangler officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the church. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Tonya Kates.
