Joseph Murl Alley's Obituary
Joe was born in Murphysboro, Il. On April 13, 1940. He was the son of Dallas and Rose Alley. He married Patricia Johnson on Nov. 7, 1959. He retired from Bridgestone/Firestone in 2001. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur.
Joe was a devoted St. Louis Cardinal and Illinois basketball fan. He had a passion for a good round of golf and in his younger years, would take on anyone in a game of pickup basketball. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman, loving the outdoors. Joe played softball for many years and coached his daughter’s teams.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Pat, of 61 years. He is also survived by his children: Debbie (Steve) Behen, son, Chris (Dawn) Alley, daughter, Angel (Mike) Brewer, daughter, Sherri (Bear) Flanagan. Grandchildren: Kyle, Dillon, Alley, Brent, Madison, Mason, Kelsey, McKeelie, Zoe, Keith. Great grandchildren: Jordan, Arabella, Wrigley, Addison, Ava, Ellis. Brother Fred (Carol) Alley, sister-in-law’s Carrie Alley and Dixie Piskos.
He was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers and one sister.
A special thank you to Joe’s Hospice staff that took exceptional care of him during his illness: Jim, Whitney, April, and Susan.
Joe will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
