Joseph Martin Chalmers' Obituary
Joseph Martin Chalmers went to be with his heavenly Father on February 6, 2023.
Joe was born to Joseph William and Agnes C (McGill) Chalmers December 9, 1953. He was a proud 1971 graduate of St. Theresa High School. He went on to work for the family business, Chalmers Fire Equipment Co, for many years.
He first married the love of his life, Dorothy Louise Hampton, on September 27, 1974. Through God’s grace and restoration, and their ever-lasting love, they were remarried September 27, 1997. From their union came 6 children, Sean, Joel (Mary Kate), Rebecca (Adrian), Deborah (Jim), Benjamin (Nicole), and Gloria, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Joe was survived by his brothers Patrick and Tom Chalmers, a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his very good friends Burt Viola and Joyce Shepard. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary and her husband Richard.
Joe loved the Lord, loved the church (especially his Resurrection Life community), and fellowship with family and friends. Through the years, he remained loyal to the Chicago Cubs, Da Bears, and the Rams (no matter where they played) and even when all of his teams were losing, he remained their biggest fan. He had a mind for trivia, enhanced by his many years selling Encyclopedia Britannica, enjoyed watching Jeopardy and would have gone all in on the daily double. His sense of humor was as clever as it was goofy, and he was very much loved.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Joe Chalmers Memorial Fund at Resurrection Life Church.
Services will be held at Resurrection Life Church Sunday, February 12, 2023. The visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 pm, services immediately following from 3:00-4:00pm.
