Joseph Neil Ganley's Obituary
Decatur – Joseph Neil Ganley, 81, of Decatur, IL, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Joseph was born February 21, 1938, in Champaign, the son of Joseph G. and Mary (Giblin) Ganley. A member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, he worked at Firestone for 32 years before retiring. After retiring from Firestone he worked at Platzbecker Paints and Plastics. He married Betty J. Mulvey on May 31, 1958 in Newton, IL.
Surviving is his wife, Betty of Decatur; children: Mary Ann Oberheim, Timothy Ganley, Joseph (Darla) Ganley, James (Kathy) Ganley, Cheryl (Mike) Valdahl and Michael (Rhonda) Ganley all of Decatur; fifteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; brothers: John (Dianna) Ganley of LA, Terry (Ann) Ganley of MO and sister, Margie (Rick) Topper of NM; sisters-in-law: Elaine Ganley of TX and Coline Ganley of Decatur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Bill and Larry Ganley and granddaughter, Leigh Ann.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 pm Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home; vigil prayer service will be at 2:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be 10 am Monday, June 24, 2019 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or Mike Daniels for his medical expenses.
