What can I say that Mr Jackson has not already interated. rMr Gorecki was Food Service Director and I worked in the business ofice at DMH. Through some quirk of fate we became friends. It had something to doabout a cock roach. I haven't seen Joe for awhile but that doesn't mean that Ihad forgotten him He told me that he served on Guadalcanal and I was in awe.Semper Fi, Old Friend.
Mr. Gorecki was the real deal. Proud Milwaukee Southside Polish kid, WWII U.S. Marine who saw more than his share of combat, provider, husband, father, grandfather and great next-door neighbor that I always respected and still was apprehensive as a 50 year-old to call Joe — it just didn't seem right not to call him Mr. Gorecki. I was very fortunate to be welcomed into his and Hazel's house as an overnight guest several times in the last five years…and he was the same guy that I knew when I was a kid growing up in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin in the 60's and 70's – he had not changed one bit over the 35 years I didn't see him while I lived in Milwaukee – the visits ALL were great…RIP my good friend…Joe Gorecki has now left the building.
